In this episode, we talk to Jools Thomas* and Ryan Thomas* about the Japan International Gamers Guild (JIGG). Jools is the unofficial JIGG historian (he made a T-shirt with that on it, so…), whose blog sparked the idea for this interview. Ryan is one half of the duo, Linda Thomas being the other, that brought gaming to Kansai. In this episode, we debut another series: movie genres. To kick it off, we discuss thrillers and what thrilling tricks we can use in our games to make them more, yup, thrilling. Lyal talks about submarine movies. Wayne talks about submarine movies. No, wait, that was Lyal talking over Wayne. Chris talks about getting a lot of “great ideas” from Lady in the Water, despite it being pretty far from thrilling and pretty far from great.

Episode 35: Secrets and Lies

In this episode, we talk about how to best use lying and secrecy in your games.

The secrets of this episode:

Wayne’s d100 joke was originally Lyal’s. It was also originally funny.
Wayne has never seen Goodfellas, and Lyal has never seen Family Guy. This actually won’t seem like much of a secret after you listen to the episode.
Chris initially had a joke where he said the episode was about fantasy. Get it? It was a lie. It’s no secret why this “joke” never made it in.

Episode 13: Creature Feature: Werepocalypse

In our debut Creature Feature, we shine the moonlight on werewolves. We discuss werewolf legends and movies and how to run werewolf antagonists and protagonists. We also talk about The Werewolf of Washington a lot. Never heard of it? There’s a reason for that.

Lyal forgot his notes at home, so “skin-walkers” become “skin-changers” and “The Beast of Gevaudan” becomes “The Beast of B-something”. Chris’s research seems to have consisted of after school specials on safe sex. Wayne is allegedly from the “ghetto”, which explains why Lyal and Chris lose it when he tells his wrapping tube story.

Despite this, we come up with a pretty decent setting to play werewolves in. Can you handle the Werepocalypse?

Episode 9: Do Not Pass Go

In this episode, we discuss board games with our special guest, Kristos.

Kristos talks about making his wife cry, which is related to board games. Chris mentions nun rape, which isn’t related to board games. Lyal does sound effects, which, oddly, is related to board games. Wayne threatens to “get started” on Toys ‘R’ Us (again), which, while related to board games, would have been cut (again).
